Ironman 4x4 was founded in 1958 by Auschwitz survivor Guenter Jacob who later became known as the Ironman, hence the brand name. The company began with the same core pillars they have today: innovation, quality and value across their product lines. Today, Ironman 4x4 America provides high-quality off-road and adventure gear to enhance vehicle performance and durability in rugged environments. Specializing in 4x4 suspension systems, recovery equipment, and camping accessories, they deliver innovative solutions for overlanding and off-road adventures.

WHY

Ironman 4x4 is a Titan of the trails, arming off-road enthusiasts with the gear to tackle tough terrain. They've got everything you need to make your vehicle unstoppable. We met Ironman 4x4 America when they faced a technical challenge with their site - our favorite kind of mountain to conquer.

BigCommerce announced that support for the custom "node-sass" module in the Stencil CLI package will end on January 31, 2024. Initially, Ironman 4x4 tried to manage with the existing setup out of compliance, but soon realized the urgency to upgrade this package and resolve any syntax conflicts with the new version promptly.

Their team reached out to Irish Titan with a need to move as quickly as possible, their tight timeline matched the urgent need to get back into compliance.

HOW

Our team jumped into action, updating the Stencil CLI and migrating to a Node v18 environment within a week. This tight timeline was crucial to maintain continuity and compliance for Ironman 4x4's ecommerce activities.

WHAT

We kicked the outdated 'node-sass' to the curb and cleaned house by scrapping the old node modules. We cranked up a Node v18 environment and gave the Stencil CLI a fresh update.

We slapped all those node modules back in place and wrestled them into compliance with BigCommerce’s high standards—no small feat, mind you.

After putting the theme and storefront through the wringer in local tests to make sure they weren’t just all looks and no brains, Ironman 4x4 America launched the changes into production..

Just for kicks, we tidied up Ironman 4x4 America’s Git-based source control because, well, we like things neat for the next people to work on it. Might even be us.

Results

The update was completed in under a week, just in time to prevent any major disruptions. This speedy execution not only maintained the site's operational integrity but also reinforced our commitment to swift action and responsive, effective solutions.

We tackled the tech terrain for Ironman 4x4 America, so they can keep rolling out the rugged gear without getting bogged down in the digital mud! “Irish Titan has thus far been one of the best agencies I have had the pleasure of working with! Quick, responsive, and very friendly. Appreciate the continued support through this project!” - Brennen Gobler Senior Ecommerce Manager Ironman 4x4 America
