Software Engineering Manager

The Software Engineering Manager inspires, shapes and drives the performance of our engineering Titans. Reporting to the Director of Agency Delivery but working closely with other Titans, you will direct efforts that deliver industry best engineering, integration, and QA activities. You will be instrumental in meeting company utilization, growth, client satisfaction, and delivery goals. And you will have full leadership, management and accountability responsibilities for the Titans who directly report to you, benefitting from your leadership skills, advocacy, accountability and inspiration.

Primary Requirements Include:

  • You will have full responsibility and authority to lead and manage your direct reports, including the hiring process, performance management, recurring 1:1s, training and development.
  • Significant participation in resourcing, forecasting and capacity planning process and practices, including definition, ongoing conduction, and continuous improvement.
  • A passion for building and nurturing a team of highly motivated and performing engineering  professionals.
  • A knack for implementing and institutionalizing engineering best practices, such as peer programming, code reviews, training and education, department meetings, 1:1’s.
  • An ability to model and perform business-first-online-second, partnership-not-transaction client facing interactions, including solutions architecting, scoping, client escalation conversations, launch preparation.
  • Sales exposure and involvement as necessary, including prospect calls, estimates, proposal review.

Additional Skills and Requirements

  • 5+ years of development experience, 2+ years of management experience
  • Experience managing projects with budget ranging from $150k-$1M+
  • Experience with eCommerce projects. Bonus points for Shopify, BigCommerce and/or Magento experience
  • Experience with CMS platforms including Drupal and WordPress
  • Demonstrated success working on web based ecommerce projects of varying sizes
  • Deep understanding of engineering methodologies and best practices
  • Experience mentoring and sharing knowledge with other developers
  • Experience with  technologies ranging from React, CSS, and JavaScript to PHP, MySQL.
